Compilation and Reconstruction of the Lynn Lake Ni-Cu Mining Camp
At the request of Corazon Mining Ltd. (CZN.AX) NiPtx Inc. was contracted to undertake a major compilation of the Lynn Lake nickel-copper mining camp in 2015. The project entailed:
Collate sixty-five (65) years of nickel mining and exploration activity almost all of which was in hard copy and in mine grid (non-earth) format.
Digitize all pertinent mine maps, orebodies, working levels, sub-levels and sections in color and re-project to UTM space.
Compile a digital drill database of 8268 holes.
Acquire and reprocess original geophysical contractor data and reports for:
Five Time Domain IP and resistivity surveys
Two Time Domain EM (TDEM) ground surveys
Two Time Domain Bore Hole EM surveys
Three Ground Magnetometer surveys
Five Gravity surveys
Three Airborne Time Domain EM-Magnetic surveys
Built a database of 2783 research quality geochemical samples of mafic-ultramafic rocks from the Lynn Lake metallogenic belt in an effort to establish geochemical vectors associated with orebodies.
2D-3D compilations. All 2D compilations utilized the GIS software Mapinfo-Discover 3D and Geosoft Oasis Montaj.
Initially all the components of the above compilations were integrated in 3D space in GOCAD. From GOCAD all the components were exported to a free GOCAD viewer called Geoscience Analyst (GA).
A similar drill hole project was built in Geosoft Target to examine the drill hole record and properties of the deposit.
Define new Ni-Cu sulphide targets for drilling.
The final compiled projects consisted of 165 Gb of digital data.
This 3D video summarizes the results:
Other Compilations
In 2012 Wellgreen Platinum (WG.TO) engaged NiPtx Inc. to compile all available mining and exploration activity for the Wellgreen mine area and surrounds. Mining and exploration in the area spans the period from early 1950's to 2012.
NiPtx Inc. was contracted by Nickel North Exploration (NNX.V) from 2012-2014 and Rockland Minerals (RL.V) 2013-2014 to assist with their properties in the Labrador Trough, Quebec. Both of these projects were major undertakings that required collating and digitizing the historical exploration (~50 years) records (virtually all in hard copy) into digital products and 3D representations.
In 2015-2016 Fathom Resources engaged NiPtx Inc. to similarily compile the Rottenstone Ni-Cu-PGE mine area and belt (northern Saskatchewan) relative to the mining and exploration activity conducted since the early 1920's and to come up with new exploration targets.
In all of the above recent compilations a similar methodology was employed and final products developed utilizing the same team of experienced associates.
